Dr Peter Ang graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1991. He gained his Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) and Membership of the Royal College of Physician (UK) in 1997. In 2000 he was awarded the Ministry of Health Manpower Development Programme Scholarship to train in general oncology at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston USA with a focus on breast cancer and cancer genetics. In 2000 he qualified with the European Society of Medical Oncology, topping the examination by being second in score. The following year he was one of the first to qualify with the Familial Cancer Risk Assessment and Management Exam certification by Institute of Clinical Evaluation for the practice of cancer genetics.
Dr Ang was Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist and Director of the Cancer Education Service at the National Cancer Centre, Singapore (2004). He was also a visiting consultant to KK Hospital supporting the setup of the cancer genetics service. He was the leading specialist of the Breast Cancer Workgroup (2002) for National Cancer Centre, Singapore and Singhealth cluster and involved in implementing the cluster Breast Cancer Health Management Plan in 2003 and lead the program for Public Cancer Education with Singhealth Cancer Service Development Line.
In clinical work, he was awarded the National Excellent Service Award in 2005 and is involved in providing comprehensive oncology information and excellent patient care for a wide range of cancers.
Dr Ang has been a clinical teacher with the National University of Singapore and is currently a Visiting Consultant to the National Cancer Centre. He’s been involved in clinical cancer research for years, including 10 clinical trials for chemotherapy drugs as principal researcher. He has been published in many journals both locally and internationally and in 2006 edited and authored a book on breast cancer, “Illustrative Cases in Breast Cancer.”
