Introduction

Dr. Amir Szold is senior surgeon and renowned expert in minimally invasive (Laparoscopic) surgery. He is the Founder of the Endoscopic Surgery Division at Ichilov hospital, Tel Aviv and founder of the Israeli Society for Endoscopic Surgery. His area of specialization is upper GI surgery, abdominal wall and general surgery. Dr. Szold has given hundreds of lectures at conferences around the world, from the US, Europe, China, and India, and is invited often to guide surgical workshops and perform live surgeries across the world.

Education & Training

Dr. Amir Szold began his medical education at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel in 1979 where he graduated as MD in Medicine in 1987. He then continued his clinical experience as Resident in General Surgery at the Hadassah Medical School until 1993. During this time, he spent one year at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, USA where he continued as Resident in General Surgery. From 1993 he continued his clinical experience at Hadassah Medical School as an Attending Surgeon before moving to the Tel Aviv Medical Center where in 1998 he became Director of Endoscopic Surgery, a post he held until 2005.

Teaching

Dr. Szold has taught and lectured extensively throughout the years at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem during the 1990s where in 1995 he was the Chief Instructor and Co-Ordinator of Endoscopic Surgery. A Senior Lecturer and Director of Postgraduate Courses at the Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv from 2002-2005. From 2003 until 2011 he was the Director of the Endoscopic Surgery at the Training Center at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center.

Dr. Szold is a member of numerous Medical Associations including; Israeli Medical Association, Israel Surgical Society, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, Israel Society for Endoscopic Surgery, European Association for Endoscopic Surgery, American Society of Bariatric Surgery, Society for Medical Innovation and Technology.
