Dr. Asnat Raziel is an experienced General Surgeon who specializes in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery and is the current Secretary of the Israeli society of Metabolic and Bariatric surgery.
Dr. Raziel began her medical education at the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel where she graduated as an MD in 1988. She then completed Diplomas in Aviation Medicine and Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine whilst serving with the Israeli Air Force. In 1990 she returned to the Sackler School of Medicine for a Diploma in Surgery. This was followed by a succession of Residencies in; General Surgery at Sheba Hospital (1991-2), Pediatric Surgery at the Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel (1993-5) and General Surgery at E. Wolfson Hospital (1995-2000). In 2001 she returned to the Sackler School of Medicine for a Masters in Surgery.
During her education and training Dr. Raziel has spent much time abroad completing surgical clerkships and fellowships. From Cardiac Surgery at the CHUV Hospital in Lausanne (Switzerland), Trauma Service at UCLA School of Medicine, California (USA), Visceral Surgery at Lariboisiere Hospital, Paris (France) and in 2003-5 a fellowship in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis (USA) under renowned Professor Henry Buchwald and Dr. Sayeed Ikramuddin.
From 2005 until now Dr. Raziel has been the Director of the Israeli Center for Bariatric Surgery at Assia Bariatric at the Assuta Medical Center in Tel Aviv.
Dr. Raziel has been an Instructor of Aviation Medicine for the Israeli Air Force. Instructor in Surgery at the E. Wolfson Hospital (Israel), Instructor in Surgery at the University of Minnesota and a Lecturer at the School of Clinical Obesity Studies in Israel. She is also widely published and has presented numerous articles on Bariatric Surgery.
