Introduction

Dr Mahadevan is a highly qualified Gastroenterologist working in Chennai, India. He is experienced in treating a wide range of conditions from Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) for Achalasia cardia, Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatogram (ERCP), Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) and Gastrointestinal Cancers.

Dr Mahadevan’s subspecialty interest however is in the field of interventional gastroenterology, mainly hepatobiliary diseases (including ERCP and EUS) and third space endoscopic procedures (POEM, STER) and ESD. He regularly performs POEM, ESD and most of the interventional EUS procedures.

Education & Training

Dr Mahadevan completed his MBBS from Madurai Medical College in 1995, MD in Paediatrics from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research in 2001 and went on to specialize in Medical Gastroenterology at Madras Medical College in Chennai in 2009.

His special training includes ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio- Pancreaticogram) and Therapeutic endoscopy along with EUS (Endo- ultrasound) training for 3 months in 2009 under Dr. Malay Sharma.
ESD/ POEM observer training in Zhongshan University Hospital, Shanghai under Prof. Pinghong Zhou in August 2019. With further advanced ESD/ POEM hands on training in West China Hospital, Chengdu under Prof. Hu Bing in September 2019.

Dr Mahadevan has 13 years experience as a Gastroenterologist and 5 years experience as a Paediatrician. He has worked at some of the best hospitals in India, including Senior Consultant & Head of Department of Medical Gastroenterology & Therapeutic Endoscopy at Gleneagles Global Hospital. Consultant Gastroenterologistat at Kamatchi Memorial Hospital, Chennai. Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology at Chettinad Hospital & Research Institute, Chennai and Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology at SRM Medical College, Chennai.
