Introduction

Prof. Micha Rabau is a renowned and experienced surgeon specializing in gastrointestinal surgery, colon and rectum surgeries, polyps and tumors. He has been the Director of the Department of Colon and Rectum Diseases at Ichilov Hospital, Tel Aviv, Israel. A partner and senior surgeon at Assia Medical and from 2001 to present Professor of Surgery at Tel Aviv University.

Experience & Teaching

Prof. Rabau begaon his education at the University of Tel Aviv in 1966 at the Faculty of Natural Sciences. He went on to study in Geneva in Switzerland at the School of Medicine from 1967 -1969 before returning to Israel at the Sackler School of Medicine where he graduated in 1973. The following year he began his Specialization in General Surgery at Sheba Medical Center, Tel-ha-Shomer until 1980.

Fellowships

In 1980 Prof. Rabau spent a year at St. Marks Hospital in London, UK where he trained in Colonic Surgery. In 1982 he moved to Minneapolis in the USA for an advanced course in Colorectal surgery. From 1984-1985 he trained in Colorectal Surgery at Toronto General and Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Canada and in 1995 he completed an advanced course in Colorectal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida, USA.

Experience

From 1981 to 1991 Prof. Rabau was Consultant Surgeon at the Department of Surgery, at the Tel Aviv Ichilov Medical Center, the Sackler School of Medicine Tel Aviv University, where from 1991 to 2013 he was Head of the Proctology Unit. From 2013 until now he has been the Head of the Colorectal Service of Assia Medical.

Teaching

From 1980 to 1987 Prof. Rabau was Instructor of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. In 1987 – Senior Lecturer in Surgery at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University where in 1997 until today he is the Emeritus Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery.
